Buildings numbering about seven were said to have been destroyed in the fire, which started from Anambra Plaza on Martins street, and spread to about six other structures in the market.
Revealing the cause of the fire incident, the General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Osanyintolu said a preliminary investigation uncovered that an attempt to refuel a powered generator was responsible for the fire outbreak.
Sahara Reporters however reported that a man died in the incident.
The deceased was said to be the one who was pouring petrol into the running generator.
According to an eyewitness, the man died on the spot, after which he was taken away in an ambulance.
