Governor Akeredolu is further to spend N13 million on phone calls in the same year and as approved by the Ondo House of Assembly
– The governor earmarks N1.066 billion of the budget for gift items during festivals, children’s parties hosting of state guests during special events Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has reportedly proposed the sum of N13 million for telephone calls in the 2019 budget he presented to the state House of Assembly which the lawmakers have passed. The governor also budgeted the sum of N500 million for hosting of state guests during special events. The Cable reports that a breakdown of the budget further shows that the office of Agbola Ajayi, the deputy governor, would spend N5 million for telephone calls. The report adds that N1.066 billion of the budget was earmarked for gift items during festivals, children’s parties and for hosting of state guests during special events in the office of the governor. According to the report, the amount also covers donations to some beneficiaries, whose identities were not revealed. The deputy governor’s office has N50 million provided for donations while a total of N336 million was budgeted for gift items during festivities and children parties while N230 million was set aside for donations. Aside this, the office of Akeredolu budgeted N107 million on local travel and transport; N2 million on electricity and N25 million for stationery and computer consumables. In the budget, N13 million will be spent for printing of security documents and N53 million for maintenance of motor vehicle and transport equipment. Again, N12 million would be spent for maintenance of office furniture, N19 million for local training, N150 million for refreshment and meals and N26 million for welfare package. Akeredolu’s statement was in reaction to the report of the first Ondo state security summit organised in January 2019. Akeredolu vowed that the state security council, state executive council and Ondo state House of Assembly report will address the report to have a security policy document.
