Samuel Chukwueze, the Nigeria forward scored his first senior career goal for Villarreal in yesterday’s first leg round of 32 Copa Del Rey clash against Almeria which ended 3-3 at the Mediterraneo stadium.
Chukwueze, former U17 and U20 winger, made it 3-1 in the 83rd minute for the Yellow Submarine in his first start of the competition this season having made three UEFA Europa League appearances.
The 19-year-old, in a tartly style raced past the Almeria defence, and finished off from close range for his first goal of the season.
At exactly 52nd-minute, Chema Nunez scored a penalty to hand the hosts, Almeria the lead but Santi Cazorla restored parity in the 68th minute before an own goal from Francisco Callejon made it 2-1 for Villarreal.
Chukwueze’s goal made it 3-1 in the 83rd minute before Sekou Gassama struck twice four minutes to the end of the game thus handed his side a difficult-draw ahead of the second leg.
Recall that Chukwueze was called up for the Super Eagles 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against South Africa and the friendly game against Uganda but later this month could made his La Liga debut for Villarreal against Levante on Saturday.
By this development, Chukwueze has become the fifth youngest Nigerian to debut in the Spanish topflight division behind Sunday Stephen, Isaac Success, Uche Agbo and Francis Uzoho.
